If you’ve ever thought it would be great if you could record your voice to explain or narrate the content of your genially, this tutorial is for you.
We’re going to look at how to record your voice directly in Genially without the need for any external tools, and how to get the most out of your audio files. It’s super quick and oh so easy.
How to record an audio in the Genially Editor
Follow these steps:
1. In the Editor, click on the Insert section in the left sidebar.
2. The Audio tab will open, showing the different options for inserting an audio in Genially. In this case, go to the Record an audio section.
3. To start recording, you have two options: click on the microphone button or on the message next to it that reads Click to record an audio.
Important: A window will open so that you can give Genially permission to access your microphone. If you don’t allow access, you won’t be able to do the recording.
4. Click on the stop button or on the message that reads Click to finish recording when you’ve finished. A box with your audio will automatically appear on the canvas and the settings menu will open on the right of the screen.

NOTE: The maximum length of an audio recording is 10 minutes.
What can I edit in an audio file in Genially?
1. File name: a default name will be assigned to the file, something like ‘audio_(number)’. You can change this name to something more descriptive.
2. Replace: you can replace your audio with any other.
3. Autoplay: the audio will be played automatically during the display of your genially. This option cannot be disabled for background audio.
4. Loop: if enabled, your audio will play in a loop to infinity and beyond, it will only stop playing when you leave the genially.
5. Hide audio player: the audio player remains hidden during the display of your genially. This option cannot be disabled for background audio.
6. Background audio: if you enable this option, all of the above options are enabled for you. If you deactivate this option, the audio is placed inside the canvas and will no longer be the background audio of your creation.
7. Shorten the duration: you can trim your audio by specifying the exact moment you want it to start and end. You can learn more about this here.
TIP: Before you start recording the audio, we recommend closing as many applications and windows as possible. That way you’ll get a better quality recording without interruptions.
